Good Vibrations

About |

In an effort to lean into the idea of unplanned art, this piece started out with a splatter of ink on the paper. I created the general swirling motion, letting my hand guide the way. Almost ironically, the ink cartridge broke and exploded, leaving true unintended marks all over the page. I merely began filling in the space with color and lines, following the accidental spill marks.

This piece is titled “Good Vibrations” because of the linework, creating a movement and vibrational energy that I was extremely happy with when I was done. The piece made me smile, especially knowing it began with a spill. It was a reminder not to take art so seriously, and that some accidents can become beautiful if you keep going.
