Best Coffee Shops in Savannah – Hidden Gems & Where to Skip!

Savannah is where I became a “coffee-snob.” While I attended SCAD for Interior Design, the coffee shops in Savannah were my second home. As someone who’s more productive anywhere but in my bedroom, I worked at a coffee shop almost every day for the three years I lived there. Nestled within the beautiful historic buildings and quaint squares, there are coffee shops everywhere in Savannah.
I tried as many different locations as I could, and of course, found my favorites over time. Each cafe has its own list of pros and cons, which I will honestly review below. I also included some special tips for each place, a few bonus cafes, and a couple places I would skip. Let’s get into it!
Best Coffee Shops in Savannah, GA
1. (My Absolute Favorite): Foxy Loxy Cafe
📍Located: 1919 Bull Street Savannah, GA 31401
Prime Location and Setting
I don’t care what anybody says about this opinion, Foxy Loxy is the best cafe in Savannah. Located a bit further away from the busy downtown area, Foxy Loxy is a quirky shop with a Tex-Mex twist. Not only do they have a variety of seating options inside, most of which with outlets for working, there’s a beautiful outdoor patio in the back. On Thursdays they hold live music and on Saturdays they host fire pits for S’mores and half-off bottles of wine!

👉BONUS TIP: Connected to the outdoor courtyard is a small bookstore! I could never really tell what extent the two were connected, as they also sell their own coffee, but anyone was welcome to bring coffee and food from Foxy Loxy into their store! If the courtyard was full, I just wandered into the bookstore, which was extremely quiet and peaceful with large tables to work at.
Amazing Coffee
The coffee at Foxy Loxy is, in my opinion, the best in Savannah! As I mentioned, my coffee-snob self likes strong coffee and I’m particular about the sweetness level. Their “Knockout Cold Brew” is delicious. I ordered it all the time with a splash of oat milk, and I’ve missed it anytime I’ve ordered a bad cold brew since.
If you want something hot, you have to try the Mexican Mocha! This latte comes with their homemade blend of dark chocolate, habanero and cinnamon. I never thought I’d enjoy spicy coffee, but Foxy Loxy transformed me. This latte does actually have a kick to it and is delicious! You can order the Mexican Mocha iced too, but I always find spicy drinks taste better hot because the blend dissolves into the drink more evenly.

Delicious Tex Mex Food
As if the amazing coffee wasn’t enough, Foxy Loxy has great food too. If you want a smaller pastry, the “Kolaches,” sweet dough stuffed with various fillings, are really good. If you are a bit hungrier, the tacos are amazing!!! I was vegetarian at the time, so my go-to order was always the Vegetarian Taco and I was never disappointed. The mix of veggies and red pepper crema was different from other tacos I’ve had before.
Just go here, I promise you’ll love it. If for some reason you don’t, my feelings about Foxy Loxy are too strong for anyone to change them anyway.
2. Coffee Fox (Yes, the Two Are Related)
📍Locations:
102 W. Broughton St. Savannah, GA 31401
1103 Louisville Road Savannah, GA 31415
Coffee Fox is the smaller sister company of Foxy Loxy, serving most of the same drink options, though the menu is much more limited, including only pastries and other small desserts.
More Convenient Location
I was actually unaware until writing this article that Coffee Fox opened another location on Louisville Road! I have not been there, but their website says this spot has parking, which in Savannah, is an amazing thing.
I have, on the other hand, been to the location on Broughton Street. Though Foxy Loxy takes the cake still, Coffee Fox on Broughton is much more convenient as it’s right in Savannah’s downtown area. Broughton Street is the main tourist strip, and if you’re just visiting, probably where you’ll spend a lot of your time. Therefore, Coffee Fox is a great option if you just want some quick coffee. Plus, they still serve my aforementioned favorites: the Knockout Cold Brew and Mexican Mocha.

3. Superbloom – One of Savannah’s Hidden Gem Cafes
📍Location: 2418 Desoto Ave, Starland District, Savannah GA
Hidden & Quiet Location
Superbloom is located in the Savannah’s Starland district, a super artsy part of the city away from the busy downtown. You can still walk to Starland Yard, an outdoor space with revolving local food trucks, or easily take a quick drive from downtown. Tucked away into a quiet alley next to Starland Yard sits Superbloom, which is truly a gem of a cafe.
Cafe, Local Gift Shop, and Craft-Nights
Yes, Superbloom is equal parts cafe and art-lover’s dream. Their drink menu is really unique from other cafes in Savannah, showcasing “Superfood Lattes” like the beetroot cocoa drink (which I loved). They also have coffee, French Press tea, cocktails, and “Mead” – an alcoholic drink made from fermented honey! I tried it once and it was a delicious, sweeter version of wine. Another one of my favorites was the almond butter iced latte!
👉BONUS TIP: the Mead selection is rotating, so you can ask for samples before you order!
Local Artisan Gift Shop
At the front of the cafe is a store selling art, jewelry and other gift items by local artists. It’s a great place to support local artists in Savannah and buy a gift that’s not a cheap souvenir like you’d find on Broughton Street. I bought two pairs of earrings for my coworkers who showed me Superbloom before I left, and it felt great to gift something so meaningful.
Free Craft Nights!
Yes, you read that correctly, Superbloom also hosts free craft nights three nights a week. From 5-8 on the days listed below, they provide all the materials you’d need for each activity! It’s self-guided and you can just walk in at any time and start. Sometimes there’s deals on the alcohol, but you can also order anything from the menu while you work. Collage night was my favorite to go to with my friends, as it was such a fun and wholesome way to spend a night with great company.
👉TUESDAYS: Collage Night
👉WEDNESDAYS: Watercolor & Wine
👉THURSDAYS: Clay Day
If you enjoy local art, specialty drinks or want a unique activity to do one night, Superbloom is the best cafe in Savannah to find all three.

4. Gallery Espresso
📍234 Bull Street, Savannah, GA 31401
I guess I never looked Gallery Espresso up online until now, because apparently, it’s Savannah’s “Oldest Coffee Shop,” as showcased on their site. Though I never knew this until now, it completely makes sense. The old-timey vibes inside are straight out of a movie.
Beautiful Location
Gallery Espresso is located right in the popular Chippewa Square, which like many Savannah Squares, is covered by beautiful trees and dangling Spanish moss. It’s a few streets away from the hectic Broughton Street, but still very close to everywhere else and therefore, convenient to find!
👉BONUS TIP #1: If you have your own car, finding parking outside of Gallery Espresso can be a nightmare. I wasted many minutes of my life circling around the area, so I would recommend walking if possible because parking is tight!

Cozy & Nostalgic Interior Design
Okay, I’m only 22. What do I know about nostalgia? Fair point.
However, I imagine the eclectic array of antique sofas inside would make anyone feel they’ve been transported back in time. There are many cozy options to sit in, including a couple couches gathered around a fireplace. There are also tables near outlets to work at, which I often did. The art decorating each wall is rotating, offering space for artists to showcase their work and adding to the cafe’s quirky interior.
👉BONUS TIP #2: It can get really busy, especially on weekends, so be prepared to fight someone for a table you’ve both been eyeing.
Large Variety of Flavor Shots
Before the register you can view the large variety of flavor options for your coffee. I always ordered a maple latte from there, which for some reason, had a delicious nutty flavor that I could only find in their maple latte.

A Few Downsides
As I promised in the intro paragraph, I want to provide an honest review of each cafe. Therefore, in addition to the lack of parking, the long line at Gallery Espresso may be due to the slightly slow service. For some reason, it can be a bit of a wait before you can order sometimes.
Also, the food here isn’t as good as some of the other cafes in Savannah and the coffee is a bit on the expensive side. That being said, it’s an incredibly warm and cozy environment to get some work done and therefore, worth the wait and money in my opinion.
👉BONUS TIP #3: Check out The Chocolate Library
📍Location: 236 Bull Street, Savannah, GA 31401
Literally right around the corner from Gallery Espresso is the Chocolate Library, which is exactly like what it sounds: a library-style shop selling hand-painted specialty chocolate.
Not only is it such a unique-looking concept, but you get to grab the chocolates out of the cabinets yourself! You’re provided with a little tray and tongs before you can browse freely. There’s a huge variety of flavors and types of chocolate to choose from, and it’s so much fun to walk around deciding which ones to buy. They’re a tad expensive but it’s a whole experience in and of itself. They’re so good, I bought a gift box one time and shipped them to my sister for her birthday.

5. The Collins Quarter at Forsyth Park
📍 Location: 621 Drayton St, Savannah, GA 31401
Another Prime Location: Forsyth Park!
Whenever friends and family from home visited me at school, this was usually the first place I took them. Nestled in the middle of the beautiful Forsyth Park is another one of Savannah’s popular spots. The Collins Quarter has another location downtown, but the Forsyth location is just unbeatable because you have the option to sit outside on a nice day. It’s more of a brunch restaurant than a cafe, but the coffee is really good and worth mentioning.

One of my Favorite Savannah Lattes
In addition to popular brunch drinks like mimosas, Collins Quarter serves really delicious lattes. My go-to was the “spiced lavender mocha,” which I think I have about ten different photos of in my camera roll. Not quite as spicy as the Mexican Mocha from Foxy Loxy, the flavors of this latte are more subtle, soothed by the calming tastes of lavender. Again, a bit on the expensive side, but it’s a great option if you also want somewhere with a great breakfast menu!

Delicious Brunch Menu
As I mentioned, Collins Quarter is also a Savannah cafe with great food. The menu is a bit interesting, serving items like chicken and waffles, delicious rotating French toast, crab cake benedicts, and one of my favorites – Turkish eggs with falafel and honey chili oil (it is fabulous).

6. The Sentient Bean at Forsyth Park
📍Location: 13 East Park Ave, Savannah, GA 31401
Quiet and Versatile Location
If you’re looking for more of a legit cafe near Forsyth, Sentient Bean is a more low-key option towards the back of the park. They have a large area inside with many tables to work at, as well as an outer courtyard in the back. The outdoor space is really cute and mostly covered, making it a great option if you want to eat or drink outside.
Local, Veggie-Centered Menu
As I mentioned, I was Vegetarian during my time in Savannah and therefore, Sentient Bean was a great option when I needed a cafe that offered food too. Sentient Bean focuses on locally grown, organic produce and sustainability, which you can read more about on their website if you’re interested. They serve a lot of different veggie-centered options, such as different healthy bowls, vegan breakfast tacos, paninis, etc.
If you’re searching for a healthier cafe near Forsyth Park, this is a great option.
👉BONUS TIP #1: If you like chai tea, they have a delicious one that actually tastes like chai tea, not the syrupy crap from Starbucks.

👉BONUS TIP #2: If you’re interested in the vibes of Sentient Bean, I imagine you’ll also appreciate the little health food store directly next to it called Brighter Days Natural Foods
📍Location: 1102 Bull St, Savannah, GA 31401
Brighter Days is a small natural food store that has a large variety of supplements, produce, specialty drinks like kombucha, and many other items. There’s even a sandwich and smoothie shop in the back serving simple snacks.
Like other health food stores, it can be a little pricey, but sometimes I would buy a veggie sandwich from here, along with some unique beverage, and bring them to the park with my blanket. It’s worth a stop if you’re in the area or want an interesting drink to quench your thirst.

7. Franklin’s
📍Location: 5 W. Liberty St. Savannah, GA 31401
Small but Special
Franklin’s is a tiny cafe along Liberty Street, tucked a couple steps underground. I am going to honestly state this right away: it’s expensive. However, this seems to be a trend with almost everywhere and at least I can say this place is worth it.
They have a small menu with interesting coffee cocktails and specialty lattes. When I was craving something different, I’d go to Franklin’s and order their horchata latte, a unique option made with coconut milk. There’s only a bar top to sit inside, and a couple tables outside, but I did manage to snag a spot usually to work.
Yummy Breakfast
Franklin’s is another Savannah Cafe that has equally delicious breakfast options. Maybe not the healthiest choice, but the croissant sandwich -made with pimiento aioli and on a house made croissant- is amazing.

8. The Paris Market Cafe
📍Location: 36 W Broughton St. Savannah, GA 31401
Convenient Location and Transformative Interior
Conveniently located right on Broughton Street, The Paris Market is one of the most beautiful and unique cafes in Savannah. When you walk in, it really feels like you’ve been teleported to Paris.
Most of the interior is actually dedicated to the store, which sells all different types of items from Parisian perfume to home decor. There’s even an entire downstairs section, which feels like a hidden gem underneath the streets of Savannah. The entire space feels very classy and elegant and it’s definitely a fan-favorite for tourists.

Unique Drinks & French Specialties
Just like the interesting collection of gift items, the cafe section served equally unique drink options. I believe the menu is rotating because I tried different drinks each time I was there, one of which was a fizzy matcha? Honestly, sometimes the options aren’t for everyone, but personally I like to try new things and found the menu interesting. They also have delicious tea, both hot and iced, which is served in a giant mug if you sit there!
Of course, they also serve French snacks like macarons, croissants, and sandwiches made with baguettes. The seating area is small and sometimes crowded inside, but there’s also tables outside which can be nice.

9. Origin Coffee Bar
📍Location: 356 MLK Jr Blvd, Ste A. Savannah, GA 31401
Small Batch Roastery
Located across from where my apartment complex was, the somewhat newer Origin Coffee Bar became a staple for me when I was living in Savannah. They get their name from using single-origin coffee and it’s really good. The specialty lattes rotate often, always reflecting the seasonal flavors. I tried the pistachio latte once and it was so good that I always asked for it even when it wasn’t on the specialty menu after that.
Best Coffee Shop in Savannah for Working
As I mentioned, Origin Coffee Bar is a newer cafe, built during my time in school. Therefore, the interior designers did a great job of creating a modern environment with different seating options, all great for doing work.
For example, there are outlets all along the bar top by the window and even in the center where the larger community table sits. At least in my case, the bright and airy atmosphere was great for doing work. There’s also a cozier area with couches if you want to feel more comfortable.
Another Honest Tidbit
Continuing forth with my honest reviews, I will mention I don’t think the food options here are the best bang-for-your-buck. They have brunch options like loaded toasts, and while everything I tried was good, the portions were a little small for the price.
👉BONUS TIP: If you do want to hack the menu, you can do what I did: order the side portion of breakfast potatoes and add an egg on top for a small upcharge. The bowl of potatoes is big! The price of this order was more manageable.
Then again, I was a broke college student, and you’re probably traveling to Savannah on vacation, so knock yourself out – the salmon toast with mango cream cheese does taste good.
10. Casa Guava
📍Location: 314 Drayton St. Savannah, GA 31401
Okay, I feel like nobody knows about this place. CASA GUAVA is a small, hole in the wall restaurant serving authentic Cuban food and coffee. Well, I guess I don’t personally know what “authentic Cuban food” is, but that’s what their website says! So don’t take my word for it, take theirs!
My First “Cordatito”
When my boyfriend and I stumbled on this cafe while walking around one day, I had no idea I was about to try something I’d never had before. I randomly ordered a cortadito, assuming it was just like a typical cortado. I wasn’t aware of the Cuban spin to this drink, using pre-sweetened espresso and creating the perfectly balanced drink. Not too sweet and not too bitter, the cortadito was so good!
I also tried the “Cafe Bombom,” a similar drink but made with condensed milk. Like anything made with condensed milk, this was delicious as well.
Amazing Cuban Pastries
Because everything smelled so good inside, we couldn’t help but also order a “pastelito,” a sweet and flaky Cuban pastry. We ordered one with guava filling and one with coconut filling; they were amazing and a must try if you go! I didn’t take any photos there, but here’s an example of the pastelito:

Each time I went, there were only a couple employees in there working hard to keep up with the demanding customers. The vibe of the restaurant felt homey and genuine, and I hope others keep supporting this small, delicious business!
Bonus Cafes!
Below are two Savannah spots that aren’t necessarily cafes, but I couldn’t help but mention, each for their own unique reason.
11. Dottie’s Market
📍Location: 207 W Broughton St. Savannah, GA 31401
The Ultimate Southern-Style Breakfast
Despite opening during my last year at SCAD, Dottie’s quickly became a favorite. I just had to mention Dottie’s because though I wasn’t blown away by their coffee, I was blown away by the food. Dottie’s is right on Broughton Street and doubles as a store, selling a variety of Southern-style gifts like hot sauce. However, their breakfast is absolutely amazing, showcasing real Southern flavors.
Our Favorites
My boyfriend’s go-to was the “Breakfast Blueplate,” which was not just any breakfast plate. It came with greasy hash browns, roasted tomatoes, thick smoked bacon and cornbread. The “Hash Brown Sandwich” was the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had; the homemade hashbrown was crispy and the pepper relish was sweet. Because I didn’t eat sausage at the time, the lovely lady behind the counter always switched it out for avocado for me, even though it seemed to be a hassle.
As I mentioned, the cafe in the back also serves coffee, but I didn’t really remember Dottie’s for that. I believe they also serve lunch and dinner, which unfortunately I was never able to try. Still, I couldn’t write about breakfast in Savannah without mentioning this amazing spot.

12. Pounce Cat Cafe
📍Location: 404 W Broughton St. Savannah, GA 31401
A Fun & Fluffy Activity
Again, this place isn’t necessarily what you were thinking of when you searched “Best Cafes in Savannah,” but I thought it was worth a mention. If you don’t like cats, you can skip this paragraph. However, as someone who loves cats, this was such a unique and special experience.
Cafe With a Cause
Pounce Cat Cafe is essentially a cat shelter where you can visit and play with the cats, whether you want to take one home with you at the end or not! Why wouldn’t you want to drink wine while playing with a kitten? Each cat has a tag with their name and age, as well as whether or not they’ve been adopted. It’s something different you can do if you have an hour to spare, just be sure to make a reservation!
Cafes in Savannah to Skip
I hate writing negatively about anywhere, but as this is an honest review of Savannah Cafes, I wanted to briefly mention which ones I’d skip.
1. Savannah Coffee Roasters
📍Location: 215 Liberty St. Savannah, GA 31401
Okay, this cafe isn’t bad. Savannah Coffee roasters was my go-to spot when I first arrived in Savannah because it’s one of the first places recommended to you online. The interior has an industrial, burlap-sack vibe to it and there are many seating options.
On the other hand, after I received a pretty bad iced coffee one day and ventured out into other coffee shops, I merely realized how many better options there are. As it’s a popular tourist destination, the cafe also gets really busy, and I just think there are places with better coffee anyway. Like I said, it’s not a bad option, just don’t be afraid to try some of the lesser-known spots too.
2. The Clyde Market
📍Location: 223 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Savannah, GA 31401
I feel a little sad including this cafe here because it used to be one of my favorites. The Clyde Market was just a cafe when I first came to Savannah and they always played The Office on a projector. It was really nice! At some point, they stopped doing that and turned the space into an event venue. Now, some days the cafe is closed for private events.
Their cold brew is actually good, but it’s so small for the price. Additionally, they serve acai bowls, which I normally love. I tried so hard to like them here, but each time I was honestly disappointed. They were small and had an icy consistency. Sometimes there was way more fruit than others . . . I eventually stopped going because I was always a little annoyed at myself for spending money there.
I will say, maybe the fact they were in the midst of the venue change caused this inconsistency between visits. It could be better now that the employees have had more training and time to adjust.
That’s a Wrap!
Best coffee shops in Savannah GA | Hidden Gems and Where to Skip
That wraps up my list of best coffee shops in Savannah! I tried to include as many personal tidbits of extra information that I could, hopefully providing you with the most in depth answer to your search.
