Inspiration
During my time in Lima, Peru, I stumbled upon a hidden gem. The two sister companies (Ciclos & Cacaotal) share a modern cafe in the heart of Barranco. Not only did they have the best espresso I’ve ever had, but the chocolate shop upstairs was an amazing surprise. They sold chocolates from all different regions of Peru. We were advised to try two 70% bars from different regions, as to more accurately compare their flavor profiles. It was here that I became even more of a chocolate snob, as I realized what flavor notes pure chocolate can have. It was an amazing experience that inspired this piece!

Details & Process
The background of this piece is stained with Peruvian coffee, leftover from my morning cup. The stamps on the bottom are made from a leaf I found on a walk around Barranco, further connecting the place to the page. On top, I used pen to create the beans and stem, focusing on the texture I saw in the cacao pods.
